2001 and Newer Duramax T-304/T-409 Single and Dual Stainless Steel Systems

The MBRP exhaust systems, offered by Diesel Performance Parts, Inc., for the General Motors Duramax diesel are manufactured to replace the original equipment exhaust system components on any 2001 and newer Duramax diesel equipped pick up. The Duramax system is a complete four-inch mandrel bent T-304 or T-409 stainless steel system that includes the Spiral Flow core muffler and an optional five-inch T-304 polished stainless steel, rolled edge tip (Dual wall tips are standard on T-304 stainless steel systems). The system has been designed to accommodate any of the various cab and bed length pick up bed designs currently produced by General Motors.

The Duramax system begins by increasing the tubing size to four-inches and by using the same style factory four bolt flange and using factory style hardware to ensure an easy installation of the system. The intermediate pipes have welded T-304 stainless steel hangers that guarantee a correctly aligned installation. Crew cab long bed trucks will require an optional short intermediate pipe that is used just prior to the spiral flow muffler. (Required only on crew cab long bed body styles)

The Spiral Flow louvered muffler is a six-inch diameter by thirty-inch long, mirrored polished stainless steel case, containing an inner packing material made of stainless steel wool, with a ceramic blanket outer packing. The competitions diesel muffler in a lot of cases is a hollow core/can without any packing material that actually produces a restriction by allowing the hot exhaust gasses to get into the outer “can” and then trying to “fight” their way back out of the outer can into the main exhaust stream. That is the exact opposite of the reason you are looking for a performance exhaust systems in the first place. The interior of the muffler is a four-inch stainless steel tube that dampens the resonance of diesel exhaust and still keeps the interior noise level of the cab within comfortable levels of the factory sound level. The muffler incorporates a Spiral Flow louver that is specifically designed for diesel exhaust performance. Notice too the size of the louvers is small to eliminate any restriction, but large enough to dampen exhaust noise. Some competitive louvered mufflers use extremely large louvers that are a major restriction in exhaust flow. The spiral pattern (view picture) of the louvers promotes the same flow the turbocharger introduced to the exhaust gasses as they left the turbocharger. The spiral pattern of the louvers helps speed the exhaust gasses out of the exhaust system to lower the exhaust gas temperatures as quickly as possible.

The four-inch tailpipe slides on the spiral flow core muffler and ends with the optional five-inch tip (Dual wall tips are standard on T-304 systems). The systems we offer do NOT have a TWO piece tail pipe design. Not only is a two piece design more prone to corrosion and moving out of alignment as the system ages, it has an unattractive clamp joint that is readily visible on all four wheel drive applications. A tail pipe made out of a single piece of stainless steel is exactly how the OEM manufacturer designed your factory system and it is the best most secure and attractive way to build a performance system as well. Diesel Performance Parts, Inc. offers tips that are available in five-inch T-304 polished stainless steel as either a straight cut or angle cut single wall rolled edge, or as a dual wall straight cut or angle cut edge designs. (Dual wall tips are standard on all T-304 stainless steel systems) The tip is located directly behind the rear wheel and is battered by road debris. The road debris will cause rust almost immediately in a chrome-plated tip, but not in a T-304 stainless tip. The joint clamps provided in our systems are plated to prevent corrosion and provide a long life. You can’t use a stainless steel joint clamp as the threads of the stainless fasteners will “gall up” when tightened sufficiently to seal the stainless steel joints.

The Duramax systems are available in both single four-inch systems and also the Dual four-inch systems for the ultimate in diesel exhaust systems. The Dual systems have both a left and right side tail pipe exiting at a sweeping angle behind both rear wheels. The T-304 Dual systems come standard with dual wall tips for both left and right side tail pipes, while the T-409 systems can add tips as an option.

The Duramax exhaust system has been dyno tested to produce as much as 25-horsepower and 39-foot pounds of torque. While at the same time lowering your exhaust gas temperatures up to as much as 200 degrees, and spooling up your turbocharger dramatically quicker. The horsepower and torque gains are extremely important but the ability of an exhaust system to lower your exhaust gas temperatures so you can add other performance improvements is of prime consideration for your engine. There are also some mileage gains to be realized, based on your driving style and location.

The T-304 stainless steel systems are protected by an exclusive Limited Lifetime Warranty policy, to the original purchaser. The T-409 stainless steel systems are protected by a five year warranty to the original purchaser.
